The Santa Cruz County International Film Festival is an annual event held in Ambos Nogales – the sister cities of Nogales, Arizona and Nogales, Sonora.

The festival is a celebration of the more that 125 major motion pictures that were filmed in the area, as well as films produced by local and international filmmakers. In addition to recognizing the rich history of film in the region, we also highlight and explore the cinematography of today and hope to foster the activities of tomorrow’s film makers.

To accomplish these goals, we screen motion pictures and short independent films that have a connection to the border, Santa Cruz County and Sonora, Mexico. We also invite experts and film makers to speak, and encourage examination and discussion.

Every year we will have one or more trips to site locations where major motion pictures were filmed, to explore the area where famous movies were made.

And if that is not enough fun, every year we celebrate an extravagant and fun Film Festival Gala in Nogales, Arizona and a party just across the border in Nogales, Sonora as well.

This year’s festival was held from October 20 – 23, 2016, and the next festival will be celebrated in October 2017.
